what's included in support?
.

what's included in support? Shorelinedad: My STBX just handed me a list of things she paid for in the last month and wants half. I've been paying support and think some of this is covered. half of prescriptions for kids.....I already paid for some previously. Class ring, I'm willing to pay half. Child psych office visit. Kids class sleepover fee.
Just having a hard time determining what covered by support. I'm in MA, BTW.
Thanks.
Re:what's included in support? lookin4alite: My guesstimate of what would be covered under support is: Food, Utilities, Rent Portion/Mortgage Portion, DayCare/Afterschool Care, HealthCare Insurance, Clothing/Uniforms, small things likes school supplies.

what probably isn't: Sports fees/Uniforms, outings, clothes you buy as gifts, field trips, special school events, fundraisers, large medical expenses and large dental expenses.

not a lawyer just expressing thoughts as too what I would consider in one category or the other.

everything is negotiable, because Tax credits are negotiable as well.

take care

Re:what's included in support? ChrisJane: How are your papers worded? In my case my ex pays support and then is required to pay 1/2 of all medical expenses not covered by my insurance. Thats all.

Unless you have agreed on something else I would think any extra's should be her responsibility to cover out of the support you pay her.

Re:what's included in support? Sharp: Honestly, I'd hand the list to your lawyer and find out what to do. I don't know MA law, but some states do require you pay half of all child's expenses. Unfortunately raising a child is not cheap. Did she give you the list because she is really financially struggling to cover everything? If so, my suggestion would be to give her the money for your kid's sake. I may be a bit opinionated on this given I'm raising a two-year-old w/o a penny of support, and I only see the financial struggle getting worse. Just MHO. :)
Re:what's included in support? RecoveringinDE: In my support he pays 1/2 of daycare, health/dental ins that I pay. Everything else I show him the receipt or vice versa and he gives me 1/2 or I give him 1/2.

But, as said above, should check your agreement.
