how to write a letter to the judge.... Gena: with out sounding like a whinny ex wife ?
My ex husband is in contempt of court on three counts:
1) not covering our children with health insurance since Oct
2) owes me $40 in medical bills so far
3) owes me $3500 in debt that was awarded him at the time of our divorce.
I was given the legal advice to write a letter to the judge about all this...has anyone ever had to do this before?
what was the out come?
Thanks! ::)

Re: how to write a letter to the judge.... Mike: Regarding letters to the judge,
THis is a no no.
WHat legal profesional gave you this advice to contact a judge directly.?
There are child support avenues to follow through motions or through the probation department which can help.
Re: how to write a letter to the judge.... dreamerpoet: PM Iso, she is just about done with law school, she will prob be able to tell you. I work at a law firm and have seen several letters to various people mediator, judge, opposing attny etc. I just don't know the exact logistics of this.
Re: how to write a letter to the judge.... jillieb44: Contact your attorney and they should be able to help you with filing any motions or whatever (I'm not an attorney) to make the judge or whoever enforce your divorce orders.
Unfortunately I think I'll be in your shoes in a few months....

Re: how to write a letter to the judge.... sourpuss: perhaps the courts are different where you are, but my friends ex wrote to their judge giving his opinion on how the judge should proceed in their case. then he didn't show up for the court date because he had "said all that needed to be said".
the judge fined him for wasting the courts time.
there are times when one communicates with the court in this way, but it's usually things like victim impact staements.
i'd get a second legal opinion.....
