No money anymore-so where are they now? lisaAnn: You know what really stinks? I had more frineds then i knew what to do with when i lived in my 5500 square ft house, had a tanning bed, hot tub, pool table, theatre, fitness room, convertible, money, status.....so where are they now? I really do miss the company. I just wish they would've been a little more discreet about ditching me after i left all my possessions behind!
I know you're all going to say that i don't need friends like that, and i don't, but i am still lonely! No one calls me or stops by. Are people really that shallow? I went to a wedding in November. Some of my "friends" were there. The girls hardly spoke a word to me, and their husbands just tried to make small talk.
I wish for one day, i could have my material things back, and when the so called friends come a calling...i'll sat *#@* off!!!! ;D Nope...no bitterness here!!
Re: No money anymore-so where are they now? INCT: LisaAnn,
I know the feeling. I guess i have sort of come to terms with it. I have some furniture and the dog from my "past life" my friends don't call, and haven't since I moved. I have boiled it down part of the changes in my life. I though I would be married for the rest of my life, that didn't happen, I thought I would have all of my friends, some from childhood, for the rest of my life, that isn't happening. So, for me, it's part of the rebuilding process.

Re: No money anymore-so where are they now? Marb_Man: Ahhh the days of having all of those people hanging around.
My phone rang off the hook. Employee's and people swarmed me at work. Suppliers catered lunches. Manufactures gave us gifts and trips to football games. When you have money everyone wants to be your friend. You end up being the topic of everyone's conversation's. It is just mad. All the sudden boom you shut your business down that dollar sign disappears off your forehead they disappear and leach on to the next unknowing victim.
The stupid ones forget that most people who fail in life do it more than one time. Then lets say you make your comeback and bump into one of them once your back up. I usually seize the moment and treat them with some small talk and remind them of how I hung out by myself and I didn't see anyone for a year or so except for my true friends. You will never forget any one of those people who walked away from you when you were down. I won't. It was all business to them.
Re: No money anymore-so where are they now? dangergirl: lisaAnn, you are right. Who needs friends like that?
I think I got really lucky in this respect. I walked away with most, if not all, of the friends that we had. Having lived here all my life and being with the same company for 8 years it makes it easy to have and keep many friends. He moved around a lot and job hopped when he did have a job so his stable friends were my friends. And this is the time when you find out who your real friends are. I can honestly say that mine are stepping up to the plate and for that I am grateful. I love all of them.
As for the money situation, again I am very lucky. Many of my friends are from my old company, a telecom darling of the late 90's. Many of us made a lot of money and bought the big houses and the fancy cars. The only difference is that we remember what we were all like when we were all stuggling just to make rent because the company couldn't afford to pay us every week. It is amazing how the tides turn so quickly. That which is given to us can so easily be taken away, be it money or a marriage. My new lease on life has certainly taught me to cherish what I do have and to stop looking for the next big thing. By doing that, you miss out on what is right in front of your face. If you keep looking ahead to plan the future so that you can plan and organize, you lose the joy of living the now, the future of yesterday that you have worked so hard to create.
So, lisaAnn, take this time to go out and meet new friends who you have something in common with. I cherish all my old friends but am enjoying making new ones. There is always room for one more, especially when she brings her own batteries ;D Florida really is warm this time of year!!!
