First off I agree MA.. RUDE, RUDE,RUDE..
Secondly, I am sorry to hear that people you called friends would do that to you, especially at one of, if not thee most difficult time in your life.
With that said..
I guess I am still a little childsish in ways, but I would draft a real straight forward response detailing your side. Obviously they don't know your side of the story..Not that it really matters, you know the truth, your STBX knows the truth.

Believe me I did respond. I did not tell them the truth. I just said they do not know the whole story and maybe my s2bx would have the guts to tell them one day.
I just begun to realize that people truly have no understanding of what all of us go through in a situation like this. Maybe they meant well but it was extremely insensitive and yes very "rude" indeed. And to do that by email? Give me a fricken break. Not even call me and ask me how I have been doing.
Down two more friends on my decreasing list, bring em' on folks, I can take it. Just have them stand in line, I will knock em' down one by one......

I did like your response to them, btw. And you need friends, so I hope you're replacing your former friends with new ones, and not just here. I'm finding that other divorced people are pretty easy to hang with, even if you don't spill your guts.

Just one more example of your strength, dignity, and overall character. It probably would have been easier to just blast your husband to them- but you chose the high road.
