My experience OldSchool: Hi, I've been a constant onlooker even though I haven't posted much. This site is great! I hope everyone gets something positive from here. I like to come on here as a place to bond and not feel alone, esp. after the rejection of divorce.
It's been over 2 years for me since my divorce, and at first I was out drinking with my buddies and meeting all kinds of women. There were so many different times where I just sat there in my own pool of sweat from my forehead and couldn't utter a word. The more I drank, the easier it was to open up. The more I opened up the more women were attracted to a person that wasn't me.
If there's anything I've learned from all of this, it's that you can't pretend to be someone you're not. In the end, you're only hurting yourself. I've only started to realize how much I can give to someone else. I've gone thru all the highs and lows of dating and getting back out there.
It didn't take long to figure out which women out there weren't worth spending $ on mixed drinks for. My biggest obstacle to get over was the feeling of being alone. It still sucks to come to an empty apartment, but it's much more bearable when you have other things in your life besides sex or lack of....
I'm dating someone now, but it's not really going anywhere. Ever since I just acted like myself and opened up just to be friends with the other sex, I now have more women friends than I can count. After work on a Thursday, I can ask any number of women to meet out for a drink in a group of friends. And it's with those friends I can meet their other friends... ;) Well, it's worked so far, and I can only hope that I don't burn any bridges this way. Any guys/gals out there experiencing similar feelings of trying to get past the casual thing. It's nice, but there's more out there, right?
Re:My experience lifechange: Welcome to Ojar! I am too soon to be out dating, but I am always looking for ways to hook up with some new friends.

Re:My experience OldSchool: Well, I'm always looking for new friends since the hookups are on hold for the moment. Thanks for the response, and I look forward to getting to know more people on here in the future.

Good luck to you!
