And that's true...
I did
I didn't make it easy
I wouldn't let him change
that part of me that he loved
and feared and
I wouldn't let him deny
that part of him that
I saw and wanted
I did fight, that's true
but I didn't fight with him
....I fought for him
and maybe I fought so hard and so much
that I changed his feelings about me...
but better that
than it change my feelings
about
myself....

I wish I could say something prolific, but I really think I might cry instead. because that is so true, and will more than likely go on my fridge because my best friend pointed out to me one day in a moment over overwhelming doubt that the reason that we had divorced is because I had started to hate myself. And I will never allow that to happen again.

I am glad you liked it...I love it too! I keep it handy because you are right...it is very true. I am in the same boat as you...I have completely lost myself and with that came hating myself. We can't be who we need to be when the other partner doesn't let us or doesn't encourage us, or for that fact ...love us. It sounds like you have a good friend. I hope you start loving yourself immediately!!! If we don't....WHO WILL?

I appreciate you sharing this with me, and with all of us, I have it printed out and keep it around.
Hopefully, if I feel like I am losing myself I will take a glance at it and remember how awful that really is!
