Am I just old-fashioned?

Am I just old-fashioned? betteroffalso: OK guys, I believe that yes peoples feelings do tend to change when they are in a long term relationship. I do believe sometimes you may fall out of love with the person to whom you are married. Is that reason to divorce them? No. Ever since my stbx left, I have been questioning and reading everything I can. I have talked to many many ederly couples who have been married 60 plus years and their advice is consistant. They all say it is work and you shouldnt always trust your "FEELINGS" because "FEELINGS" DO CHANGE. So, if you FEEL you dont love your spouse anymore, that will change. You just have to wait it out and WORK to regain that. You dont just GIVE UP and find the next person to eventually fall out of love with! The best information a couple said was "We never fell out of love with each other at the same time". In other words, your relationship is going to go through stages! At times, you may not like or love the person you are married to but dont give up! Work and stick through it and the rewards that come from that are ten fold!! Can you imagine being married for 60 plus yrs! What a wonderful accomplishment! Here is an analogy, may be corney, but .... Its like someone who has never been to the planet earth before and they are here for the seasons of winter and spring. They decide they dont like it so they leave. They never got to experience the wonders of summer and fall!! If they would have stuck it out, they would have. Maybe I am old fashioned but thats my opinion!! :D

Re:Am I just old-fashioned? down south xhubbie: My oldest sister (17 years older than me :o ) gave me this very same advice. She has been married for 25 years now. She said that there were times that she had no feeling for my B-i-l, but she stuck it out and was glad that she did. I'm sure, if pressed, he would say the same.
