Scared to live on my own cbbear27: Hi all,
Guess I just needs some words of encouragement. I have having trouble figuring out how the heck I am going to make it on my own. I dont make a lot of money and can only afford a 1 bedroom apartment. (and a cheap one at that) I am scared because I dont want to live in a bad area but I might have to resort to that. I am so scared but I know I have to do this. I have to make it somehow.
Sorry I just had to vent!!! Any kind words would be great. How did you all do it financially?

remember, you have to start somewhere. If you are the type of person who can lay out a plan and start to build from there it will help.
I was lucky that I found just the right place to live..mind you I paid way too much, but it was a start, a place to start over and that's what I have done. and also, vent away, the havoc that divorce creates makes you want to scream, so this is a perfect place to do it.
and it's a place to start. I know my "recovery room" holds a special spot in my heart but I couldn't wait to get out of there!

Re: Scared to live on my own MsUnderstanding: I too just found that little one bedroom I could afford. It's in a nice area, but the building is a little older... older appliances and whatnot. It's not the luxury two bedroom I was sharing with the husband.
But it's mine. For the first time in my life I'm going to have an apartment that's mine. It's scary and wonderful and nauseating and exhilirating all at the same time. I just have to see how things go, but it's a start.
