Last year - I swallowed really hard, obtained a small, two bedroom apartment for me and my kids close to my job - changed their school and am as happy as a pig in the sunshine! I didn't think I would be - but I am. It's not much of a place I'll grant you - but it's mine! I pay the rent and all the other bills by myself every month and it's all mine!!! Whew! That felt really good to say! LOL!!! :D

Have any of you had to break a lease? I hate to do that, but I don't know what else to do...

I am currently paying for the rent on the apartment I leased...then my stbx said i could have the house....there was 3 months left on my lease, and the penalty for breaking the lease early was 3 month's rent, so I would have owed them 3 months either way...
So...right now...i am a single mom to a 2 year old boy, paying for the old apartment lease AS WELL AS paying for the mortgage on the house as well as my car payment and all the other bills I have!!
Lucky I can bust my hump 60 hours a week at work...I am making it...barely keeping my head above water, but there is a light...lease up end of January...I can't wait!!
It really DOES feel good not to have to depend on anyone, though...I am so proud of myself! I don't even get support for my son...don't want it...want to do it all myself.
Hang in there, everyone...even if it means busting your butt at your job, getting another job...whatever you have to do..it's worth it at the end of the day when you can look at "your place" and KNOW, know, know it's there ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!!

Re:Scared to live on my own jjbswest: I don't have the problem of having to find another place to stay. My stbx and I bought a house 5 years ago. He left and the kids and I are living here. I don't think he is gonna do anything about the house in the divorce. My problem is that I am scared of being alone. No one here to help out, talk to, etc.
Re:Scared to live on my own Shanna: I was really lucky to have my parent buy a house for me in their name....it will go in my name once I get divorced. I make half the payment and they make half....there is a business attached to the house and it is theirs until I can make the whole payment.
Anyway....my income is really small, but I am making it on my own with two small children. we don't have much money for food. We don't have cable, but we are making it and we are happier without stbxh.
You can do it if I can.
