Divorce Newbie cuervo23: I live in Tx. Been with soon to be ex for 5yrs appox. Been married for little over 1.5yrs. Had one child. She paid all bills and I just gave her about 65-70% of paychk towards mortgage, bills whathave you. When I hit bonus, she'd get 1k plus. Now that we are divorcing. Does all the money I contributed count for nothing? Do I just pack my clothes and walk away? Seems like I worked too hard to be left in the cold. I never cheated or beat her. We just never got along. Always arguing. This is my 1st marraige, her 2nd. Everything I have is in that house. I've had to start over with nothing. She sez everything is hers, all my money went to rent and bills. She says she bought all my clothes etc...and that I got a free ride. I couldn't buy anyting with what little cash I had leftover!? Basic necessites and thats it. Food, and gas. I feel like I was a stupid slave for her. Donor and grunt. The more I think of it that's all I was. I guess i just need to vent. Better than beating strangers. Chastise me or sympatize....Just don't hate.
Re:Divorce Newbie RecoveringinDE: You might want to check the laws in your state. In most states, if things were acquired during the marriage then you would have to split things up. My ex cheated on me, I gave him things that were acquired in our marriage. Everything his parents gave us. I kept the rest. Again, I recommend you checking the laws in your state.
