Re:Should I or shouldn't I..... lvaughn24: Im dealing with a similar situation. Accept im the mom. I had my daughter at 16, and she has never known her father and hes raised my daughter with me since she was 3 months old. Shes now 7 we are separated he left me for another woman. He wishes to adopt her but the thing is he never sees her or calls, because hes to busy with his new girlfriend and her daughter from a previous relationship. Yes ive threatened him not seeing her any more but that is because he has not done anything in the 2 months since he left, accept have her and our son we had together spend the night once a week not a dime of support or anything. He hasnt even called the kids for 5 days. i dont know what to advise you to do, accept if you really love him be there for him and help her out as much as you can I figure the more time you spend with him the better.
Re:Should I or shouldn't I..... kimura321: Thanks for the advice. I love spending time with him and he stays with me 2-3 days a week(the days I work I can't because it's 14-16 hour days and way out in the middle of nowhere.)
I wish my ex and I got along better-she just wasn't ready for a child or to get married, but it's only been two months and we still manage to get under each other's skin for the mildest crap.
I will take your advice to heart and look into the adoption laws for oklahoma. Being overseas will make this hard, but I will see if I can get anything from the JAG or from her in writing to help me out once we are out of here so we can get joint custody.
I feel just because his parents screwed up their marriage that the child shouldn't have to pay for it.

Re:Should I or shouldn't I..... in_search_of: I usually try not to answer questions like this, because well, its a little too close to legal advice for me to be comfortable with it, but talking about this situation with a fellow ojarian, I came up with some questions and theories, and I would be more than welcome to share them with you, drop me a PM or an IM (AOL, MSN, YIM, etc.) sometime, and I will let you know what I thought of.
