so now what do i do with it? notmyself: so now what do i do with my wedding dress, wedding ring, and engagement ring? divorce will be final in a little less that 7 months. what do i do with this stuff? any ideas?
Re: so now what do i do with it? pisces_goddess: I guess that depends on what you WANT to do with these things. Just because your divorce will be final in 7 months , doesnt neccesarily mean these things have to "disappear".
What is your attachment? Is it going to make you feel better to keep them? Are they going to be a constant reminder as to what happened? I say maybe put them in a box until things are more final and the healing process has went along a bit further before you make any decisions.
As for me, I ended up selling my ring to my ex..(there was a whole thread about that ring! *L*) My dress is wadded up in his basement & I threw the shoes away the other day..threw them away and didn't look back. Thats just me... We had a post once on what to do with wedding dresses... One suggestion was to have a burning ceremony *LOL*
Do whatever you feel you need to do sweetie, Good Luck ;)
Re: so now what do i do with it? notmyself: i just feel bad because it just to all mean so much. now it is nothing. all the money sank into the rings and now they sit in a jewelry box. at first when i took them off it was hard but now i can look at them and just feel a little sad..... i was so proud to be a wife and now it is over. it is strange. my mom suggested having the diamonds reset. i don't know. i guess i will pack the dress in the attic and just hang onto the rings until i am sure. thanks.
Re: so now what do i do with it? atd74: I am in the process of having my wedding ring reset. I wanted to sell it for the money (it's worth $10,000) but my Uncle is a diamondologist and manages a jewelry store and he said no one will give me what it's worth and his suggestion was to not just "give it away" and to have it reset. I took him up on his advice so I am excited to see what it's going to look like.
I also decided to have it sized to fit my middle finger on my right hand as the ultimate "F.U.". ;D
Re: so now what do i do with it? Anna: My kids use my ring and veil when they want to play dress up. It lost its meaning to me when I figured out my marriage meant nothing to my ex H. I have no idea where either of them are right now - probably in the dress up box. I 'leased' my wedding dress, so I don't have to worry about that one. :)
It is hard to know what to do with things like this - I personally have just decided to assign them no value. But it is hard when you remember how things were when they were used. I miss my innocence the most.
