Were you just sitting there, getting along, when out of the blue he said he was going to stop being nice? I wonder if there is something else going on... Are you fighting about together/not together? How is your time together? I am not going to chime in on the OW issue - that is not what matters... What matters is how to survive this time, how to care but let go.
