I completely understand your curiosity. I have an ex BF I dated for 11 years, since then I have dated several tohers, gotten married and had a baby. I still would love to know if he is married, has kids, etc. I think that some of us are just curious to see how someone else's life turned out when we thought, at one time or another, we would always be part of it.
For better or worse (no pun intended), curiosity sometimes kills the cat...but since he has 9 lives, I say "Go for it".
