I feel so good sometimes.
Lately, we can talk without hurting each other.
I've felt loving again.
I've felt loved again.
Like a warm rain, I blink looking into it
And grab your hand
Is this really us? The same?
We wonder if the weather is going to turn
So quickly once again.
This is our good bye
A month or more spent looking to the sky.
We wonder if the winter will be cold and dry.
This, this is how we are meant to be
I can't be your shelter
My house has no ceiling but the sky
I can't support you
I know no floor except the earth.
But the view from me is unconfined
I weather the seasons by turning to my mind
You've been my friend for a long time, my husband for a while
I wanted to be my best friend's wife
I'd settle for being a special person in your life
I would do a better job, I won't let you down
This was worth that much and more.
You were always worth it.
Every forced smile, each bit of remorse
You heard there were Northern lights the other night
The kind that make colors across the whole sky
It's a shame we didn't catch it
We missed it all, you and I.

I did send it to my X when I wrote it. He never checks his email, but he did about a month or more later. He sent me an email back only saying "I cried when I read this."
Reading it now just makes me think of how hard that last month living together was!
